Nainital Zoo

Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant High Altitude Zoo Nainital is the only Zoo in the newly born state of Uttarakhand.

The Zoo was established in 1984 and is spread over an area of 4.693 ha. The Zoo was opened to visitors on 1st June 1995 and is managed by "The Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant High Altitude Zoo Management Society Nainital" from 1st March 2002.

Bird Conservation Reserve

Nainital a famous hill station of Uttarakhand is situated at an altitude of 2084 meters (6837 feet) above sea level, Nainital is set in a valley containing a pear shaped lake, approximately 2 miles in circumference and surrounded with mountains of which the highest is Naina 2615mt (8576 feet).

Nainital region is also home to a large variety of fauna especially birds. One such area is the Kilbury-Pangot region along Nainital-Kunjkhadak road at a distance of about 15km from Nainital.
